Jenny Crispin
Jenny is a printmaker based in London. She is one of the founding members of Eight Women Print: a collective of artist printmakers with diverse interests and influences who came together whilst studying Advanced Printmaking at City Lit.
Jenny studied and worked as a potter for over 10 years before developing her interest in printmaking. Her exploration of form, function and construction in ceramics has informed her interest in creating 3D structures from 2D prints. She enjoys building three dimensional forms using prints created using different printmaking techniques; predominantly monoprints and relief printing from lino.
Recently she has begun incorporating different materials into these structures; using wire and thread to add different dimensions. She finds that the shadows and shapes cast by these mini sculptures often leads to the development of new print ideas.

Jenny began printmaking when she enrolled on an introductory course at the Double Elephant Print Workshop in Exeter where she quickly gravitated towards lino printing; enjoying the process of carving the plate as much as creating the resulting print. She has since explored many printing techniques and her current work combines and layers monoprints, screenprints and linocuts. The recent constraints of lockdown, with the lack of access to a print studio, have necessitated a simpler yet more experimental approach.
