Eight Women Print - Banner exhibition Onwards, Upwards

Onwards, Upwards is our third show and opens on our second anniversary officially forming as a group, on the 8th March. The intention was also to coincide the date with International Women’s Day, celebrating and shining a light on the plight and achievements of women around the world.

Our main objective, is to show that a print is not just a ‘pretty’, reproduced work on paper. It can take shape as something that is 3D or conceptual. It can be painterly, sculptural or woven in. A print can lead us into interesting, unfinished spaces. It can be a series of accidents, processes, or ripped up work re purposed and recycled. It can immerse us in a memory, a story, a musing.

So, come and share our ‘flights of fancy’. We hope you enjoy the work, and do not hesitate to approach us if you have any questions, we love to chat!

Threads of Time is an exhibition by a diverse group of women artist printmakers with distinct identities and varied approaches and practices.

Eight Women Print is a collective formed during the lockdown. As the artists moved online, they adapted to new ways of creating and developing their individual and collective practices from their homes across the globe. Each group member has explored ideas and experiences that have resonated during the lockdown periods, of how we have all adapted and are still adapting to different ways of living and being. Their own personal experiences of isolation, upheaval and anxiety are explored, as well as global experiences such as migration and conflict.

The work will be predominantly printmaking, with sculptural and textile elements woven through the exhibition.

International Women`s Day
6-9pm

On Tuesday 8th March, we will be launching our debut exhibition at the City Lit Gallery celebrating International Women`s Day and our one year anniversary.

As a collective we decided to transition into professional collaboration with diverse printmaking practices incorporating painting, textiles, video, sculpture, text, spoken word, performance and book art; guided by the artists and tutors David Holah, Sue Baker-Kenton, Adam Piper and Thomas Gosebrüch.

The journey started with months of mulling over decisions on names, logos, websites and workshops. At the end of it, Eight Women Print was born.

The exhibition reflects on what it means to be a women today. We are supporting each other through creativity and resilience, as eight strong women of all ages and backgrounds.

The power of the collective feminine is unmissable.
